ICES 10th anniversary conference
ICES, the KTH-industry competence network within embedded and software intensive systems, has now been up and running for 10 years. The network has grown, evolved and we have learnt a lot; ICES has identified a clearer role and the strategic position of a competence network!
The conference theme - How shall we develop, maintain & manage the critical software intensive systems of tomorrow? - sets the scene for the ICES 10th year anniversary conference. The conference is divided into two parts:
- September 27th: Management of organizations that develop complex software-intensive systems
- September 28th: How to create smart and trustworthy software-intensive systems

Coffee with an expert
This new seminar series is aimed at giving an update on a topic from research or industry and doing so in a relaxed context. 22nd of August we have Elena Fersman from Ericsson AB and also Adjunct Professor in Cyber-Physical Systems at the Mechatronics division, Department of Machine design, KTH talking about – "Artificial intelligence and machine learning, what’s next”.
The presentation itself is about 30 minutes and after this coffee is supplied and discussion expected. The event is open and free but seats are limited –

FED4SAE Second open call for Application Experiments
FED4SAE (part of the Smart-Anything-Everywhere Initiative of the European Commission) is a three-year project which aims to facilitate the acceleration of European Cyber-Physical System (CPS) and Embedded Systems solutions by strengthening companies’ competitiveness in the CPS market. It is targeted at European start-ups, SMEs and midcaps in all sectors dedicated to building and creating novel and innovative digital products and services addressing new markets, such as smart cities, smart agriculture, smart food, smart health and wellbeing, smart building, smart transport and others.
KTH is a partner in Fed4SAE, closely relating to the ICES center.
We are now looking for companies that want to:
• Develop novel and innovative smart solutions that will enable them take a leading position in their target markets.
• Use the most advanced technologies and industrialized solutions to link the physical world with the virtual world in combing hardware and software expertise
• Gain access to resources, competencies and save development time
• Enter into a unique European ecosystem gathering leading industrial companies, world class research organizations, innovation accelerator and private investors

SAFFECOMP 2018, 19th – 21st of September
Since it was established in 1979 by the European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems, Technical Committee 7 on Reliability, Safety and Security (EWICS TC7). SAFECOMP has contributed to the progress of the state-of-the-art in dependable application of computers in safety-related and safety-critical systems.
SAFECOMP is an annual event covering the state-of-the-art, experience and new trends in the areas of safety, security and reliability of critical computer applications.

Software Technology Exchange Workshop, STEW 2018
Swedsoft, a close ICES partner is hosting STEW, a two-day conference arranged this year Oct 17th – 18th 2018 at Malmö University. The purpose of STEW is to encourage and promote cooperation between different industry sectors, between academia/institutes and companies, and with the public sector. At STEW we want to make research and project results visible and stimulate new cooperation in the area of software technology.
