ICES Newsletter No.48 - September 2018

Dear newsletter readers!

Exactly ten years ago, on September 3rd – 2008, ICES was inaugurated! The founding members were KTH, ABB, Enea, Ericsson, Scania, Stoneridge and ÅF. ICES has grown – and as the KTH-industry competence network within embedded and software intensive systems, the network now has 30 Industry members, and is well connected to many other national and international networks, and is well established within KTH.

ICES 10th anniversary conference – 2-day conference with dinner
The conference theme – Managing eco-systems for innovation - sets the scene for the ICES 10th year anniversary conference.

The conference is divided into two parts:
- September 27th: Managing innovative eco-systems
- September 28th: Creating complex and trustworthy systems

The event is open and free of charge, but registration is mandatory and a no-show fee may be applied.

Coffee with an expert
This seminar series is aimed at giving an update on a topic from research or industry and doing so in a relaxed context. October 25th we have two speakers.
Didem Gürdür, PhD student KTH, talking about "Digitalizing Swedish Industry: What is Next? - Data Analytics Readiness Assessment of Swedish Industry According to Survey Results"
Serge de Gosson de Varennes, SopraSteria talking about "Using advanced analytics to create value from digitalisation in Swedish Industry"
The presentation itself is about 45 minutes and after this coffee is supplied and discussion expected. The event is open and free but seats are limited – registration is mandatory.

FED4SAE Second open call for Application Experiments
FED4SAE (part of the Smart-Anything-Everywhere Initiative of the European Commission) is a three-year project which aims to facilitate the acceleration of European Cyber-Physical System (CPS) and Embedded Systems solutions by strengthening companies’ competitiveness in the CPS market. It is targeted at European start-ups, SMEs and midcaps in all sectors dedicated to building and creating novel and innovative digital products and services addressing new markets, such as smart cities, smart agriculture, smart food, smart health and wellbeing, smart building, smart transport and others.

The offer: As Approved Innovation Experiment you get 60K€, access to experts and a pan-european ecosystem. Through the open calls, FED4SAE provides a unique marketplace organized as a one-stop-shop with access to leading-edge industrial platforms along with access to several advanced technologies and testbeds as well as support through expertise, know-how, coaching, design support, tech transfer from our partners.

SAFFECOMP 2018, 19th – 21st of September in Västerås
Since it was established in 1979 by the European Workshop on Industrial Computer Systems, Technical Committee 7 on Reliability, Safety and Security (EWICS TC7), SAFECOMP has contributed to the progress of the state-of-the-art in dependable application of computers in safety-related and safety-critical systems.
SAFECOMP is an annual event covering the state-of-the-art, experience and new trends in the areas of safety, security and reliability of critical computer applications.
SAFECOMP provides ample opportunity to exchange insights and experience on emerging methods, approaches and practical solutions. It is a single track conference without parallel sessions, allowing easy networking

Software Technology Exchange Workshop, STEW 2018
Swedsoft, a close ICES partner is hosting STEW, a two-day conference arranged this year Oct 17th – 18th 2018 at Malmö University. The purpose of STEW is to encourage and promote cooperation between different industry sectors, between academia/institutes and companies, and with the public sector. At STEW we want to make research and project results visible and stimulate new cooperation in the area of software technology. This year we will increase our group and public interactions and discussions even more. Read more about STEW.

OSLC and Linked Data Unconference
The first conference on OSLC & LinkedData (OSLCFest) will take place in Stockholm on November 5th & 6th, 2018 at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. OSLCFest will showcase the latest in technology to connect data across silos using standard APIs. The event will bring together experts in ALM/PLM/MBSE with experts in APIs, Linked Data, graph databases, and query languages.

As keynote speakers, John Wiegand, former Chief Architect at Rational and one of the "fathers" of OSLC, as well as Mike Amundsen, internationally known author and Hypermedia API expert, as well as Prof. Soeren Auer, contributor to substantial semantic technologies such as DBPedia, will share their unique perspective on OSLC.
