Exciting keynotes - Peter Ladkin and John McDermid are coming to the Scandinavian System and Software Safety Conference, May 21-22


Peter Bernard Ladkin is recently-retired Professor in Informatics at Bielefeld University, is Director of the British company Causalis Limited, as well as CEO of the German company Causalis Ingenieur GmbH.  Causalis companies provide services in RAMSS for complex engineered systems. Peter has worked primarily in system safety for over two decades, and in software dependability for three decades. His method for causal analysis of failures and accidents, Why-Because Analysis (WBA) is used worldwide by some 11,000 engineers. Besides system safety, he has published in software verification, distributed-system and communications verification, and symbolic AI. He is active in electrotechnical-system standardisation, in the areas of safety&security, functional safety, software safety, and statistical analysis of software.

John McDermid became Professor of Software Engineering at the University of York in 1987. His research covers a broad range of issues in systems, software and safety engineering. He has recently been studying safety of autonomy and systems of systems, and became Director of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation funded Assuring Autonomy International Programme in January 2018. He works with government and industry, as well as academia, in a range of sectors including aviation, railways and maritime. He is author or editor of six books and has published about 400 papers. He is a Visiting Professor at Beijing Jiaotong University. He became a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2002 and was awarded an OBE in 2010.
