ICES Newsletter No.35: March 2016

Dear readers!
ICES board has come up with some ideas for new seminars for 2016. Below the ideas are listed and you are most welcome to volunteer to participate or suggest suitable speakers. We are always very open to member suggestions. The only limitation is of course that it fits with ICES primary focus on Embedded Systems and closely related areas.
1. "Safe SW in multicore”
2. "Industry 4.0”
3. ”Collaborative research topics” related to ICES application to Vinnova for a research centre.
4. ”Brokerage event” Information from funding agencies or strategic innovation programs.
5. "Critical M2M communication”
6. "Dependable IT”

The upcoming 4th Scandinavian Conference on System & Software Safety, an event organized by ICES and Addalot, has attracted many applications, but we still have room for more! The event will be held in Spårvagnshallarna in central Stockholm, March 16-17. The deadline for registrations is March 10th. Keynote speakers are Professor Tim Kelly from University of York and Jonas Nilsson from Volvo Cars. The first day takes the form of a traditional seminar, while the second day includes a number of parallel workshops. Click on the link and find detailed programme and registration.

We are happy to welcome a new ICES member company, Tritech Technology. We are now totally 27 industrial companies instead of the original 6 that started ICES in 2008.

Industrial competence group on Security started

February 19th the kick-off meeting of the industrial competence group on Security took place. Ten persons attended the meeting which was led by associate professor Panos Papadimitratos. The attendees described their background in the area of Security after which there was a brainstorm and discussion on possible work forms and themes for the group. The next meeting will be held 10 May. If you are interested to join the group please get in touch with ICES on ices-admin@md.kth.se

Introduction to Systems Thinking
The earlier announced graduate course on Systems thinking will be moved to the autumn. A course appetizer in the form of a 2-hours seminar will be provided by course responsible Professor emeritus Harold (Bud) Lawson. Link for the seminar registration is available below. The seminar is free of charge. The course will be advertised later.

One-day test course

ICES will host a one-day course on software testing, given by Professor Karl Meinke. The course was given in 2015 and is now repeated. The course is primarily aimed at industrial members of ICES. In order to attract maximum number of industrial participants, ICES has decided to sponsor the course and ICES industrial members can attend the course free of charge. KTH students will be allowed to attend in case there are available places. Priority will then be given to graduate students. Link for the course registration is available below.
