Seminar – To Teach and Learn with the Brain in mind
2022-03-25 @ 09:00 - 16:00
ICES is continuing our efforts within Up-Skilling. Not only are we discussing the technical subjects that are important within the industry, but we are also looking into how we learn and how that affects the design of our courses. There are new demands on our abilities to learn throughout life, not only due to competition but also to handle the fast pace of development in all areas of society. This puts new demands on the ability to teach as well, both inside and outside of the universities.
Teaching, as a skill, is groundbreaking when it is performed well, but equally neglected when it is confused with pure exposure of information. The same can be said about learning. We do not learn during the consumption of information. We learn when we reflect upon what we have consumed. It takes time, effort and an idea of how it is done.
Both teaching and learning are processes facilitated by having an awareness of how learning is established in the brain.
During this full-day seminar, we will work through the principles of both teaching and learning. It will be theory, hands-on strategies, exercises, discussions and insights into the workings of the brain and its implications.
The seminar will be held by Anna Tebelius Bodin. Anna is an appreciated lecturer and award-winning author of 5 books. She has been working with the effect our brain has on learning for over 15 years.
